WELCOME TO MIDDLE SCHOOL!

2018-2019 is going to be an FABULOUS year here at TMS!  ELA will be rocking and rolling through some great curriculum, including myths, novels, drama, and nonfiction.

My best advice to all of you....READ, READ, READ and READ some more!  Read anything and everything you can get your hands on, from magazines to newspapers, repair manuals to graphic novels.

Please be sure your student has one folder and one composition notebook for ELA.  We will be using our composition notebook as an interactive notebook throughout the year and our folder for any lose papers or unfinished work.

When our library at TMS opens, I will update you on what your child should be reading and how the process will work for checking out and returning books as well as our version of Reading Counts to hold students accountable for their reading.

Stay tuned for more info as we begin another year.

My Bio:

This will be my 20th year teaching; my 6th here at TMS.  I am a proud mother of a College Freshman, an 10th grader, an 8th grader and a 4th grader.  When I am not teaching, I am usually on the sidelines of the soccer field, in the stands at the baseball field cheering on my kids or at Temple High or Bonham Middle school, supporting my daughters as they cheer on their teams.  I also have two pets; all dogs.  Needless to say, I stay busy!

I attended high school just down the road in Rockdale.  After high school, I attended college at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, then transferred to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to complete my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in English.  I am also a Master Certified Science teacher and a certified ESL teacher.  I will serve as our campus ESL coordinator this school year as well.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me.  I can be reached at (512) 352- 2815 ex. 5304 or balley@taylorisd.org.  My conference time is from 12:32-1:17.
I am excited to share the knowledge I have with your children and hope that we can work together to educate our kids to succeed in life!
